So often today man does not know what is within him, in the depths of his mind and heart. So often we are uncertain about the meaning of our life on this earth. We are assailed by doubt, a doubt which turns into despair. I ask you therefore, I beg you with humility and trust, let Christ speak to you. He alone has words of life.

Patrons of Teachers, Catechists, and Musicians
Story: These were the first to die during the 1886 May trials at Munyonyo. Andrew was the "Kiggozi" (Head of Bands), and Denis was a young singer.
Inspiration: They used their talents—music and teaching—to spread the Gospel. They remind us that our art and our words have the power to change hearts.
Reflective Prayer: “St. Andrew and St. Denis, inspire our teachers and fill our churches with songs of praise.”

Kampala Archdiocese is home to a dedicated clergy of over 400 priests, each committed to the spiritual care of over 1.5 million parishioners. Serving across more than 70 parishes, these shepherds of the soul walk hand-in-hand with our community, bringing the light of the Gospel to every home.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven

A Trailblazer for Africa
Archbishop Kasujja is much more than a local hero; he is a global pioneer. As a diplomat of the Holy See, he served as the Apostolic Nuncio in numerous countries, etched into history as the first black African to ever hold that prestigious title. Despite his high-ranking roles across continents, his heart remains firmly rooted in the soil of his home.
He summarizes his journey through the humble words of the Blessed Mother: “Nze nzuuno omuzaana w’Omukama, kinkolebwe nga bw’ogambye” (Luke 1:38)—”I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your will.”

It is this spirit of “Yes” that has guided him from a village boy in Mpigi to the halls of the Vatican, and finally, back home to celebrate a lifetime of God’s grace.

I heard a voice from heaven say, — Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.…… “let them find rest from their labors, for their works accompany them.”…..“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest“….And whoever enters into God’s rest, rests from his own works as God did from his.”

The life of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kawemba Mukasa was one defined by unwavering faith, a passion for education, and a deep commitment to the priesthood. Born on December 3, 1966, in Jjanya, Mawokota, to Mr. John Mukasa and Mrs. Anna Nankanja, Fr. Emmanuel’s journey was rooted in a family that nurtured his early spiritual spark.
The defining moment of his spiritual life occurred on August 9, 1997, when he was ordained to the Priesthood by Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala at Lubaga Cathedral.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

It's a year now since you departed from us. Kampala Archdiocese celebrates the life of Monsignor Expedito Magembe of Mount Sion Bukalango, who departed from us on May 9, 2025.
Through Mount Sion and his signature deliverance (Sangaalo) prayer sessions, Monsignor Expedito Magembe, was a man of deep prayer and unwavering spiritual vigour, often seen with his iconic crucifix and a big rosary, dedicated his ministry to bringing Catholics back to the Church, especially those drawn away by Pentecostal movements. Many believe he fulfilled that mission with great success.
His death leaves behind a legacy of faith, music, and healing that will be remembered for generations.

A life lived with purpose, a faith kept with honor. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith. Rest now in the eternal peace of the Father’s embrace.

A Foundation of Wisdom
Fr. Emmanuel’s academic journey was a testament to his intellectual rigor and his desire to serve the Church with excellence. After attending St. Joseph’s Primary School in Nabbingo, he entered the Minor Seminary, beginning a path that would lead him through the prestigious halls of St. Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary, Katigondo, and St. Paul’s National Major Seminary.
His dedication to his studies earned him a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophical & Religious Studies from Makerere University.
A Life of Service
The defining moment of his spiritual life occurred on August 9, 1997, when he was ordained to the Priesthood by Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala at Lubaga Cathedral.
Following a brief but impactful period as Assistant Parish Priest at Pond Parish, Fr. Emmanuel found his true calling in the formation of future priests.
In 1998, he returned to St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary not as a student, but as a teacher and mentor. For nearly 28 years, he served the seminary with distinction, eventually rising to the position of Vice-Rector. His influence on the generations of students who “passed through his hands” is a legacy that will live on in the Ugandan Church for years to come.
A Heartfelt Gratitude
Fr. Emmanuel’s journey was supported by many. We give thanks to the Lord for the gift of his vocation and express our deepest gratitude to Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere and Bishop Christopher Kakooza for their paternal care. We also honor the medical teams and the staff at St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary, Nyenga, who cared for him with such devotion during his illness.
Though his earthly journey concluded on February 2, 2026, we find peace in knowing he has returned to the Father he served so well.
