Kampala Archdiocese welcomes pilgrims and visitors from around the world. Walk the grounds where the Uganda Martyrs bore witness to their faith. Stand inside the magnificent St. Mary’s Cathedral on Rubaga Hill. Pray at the Namugongo and Munyonyo shrines. Touch the soil where the first missionaries landed at Kigungu.

Which Sites You Can Visit
- St. Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga – The seat of the Archbishop, with its iconic architecture and the Archdiocesan Museum.
- Uganda Martyrs Basilica & Shrine, Namugongo – The principal shrine where the Catholic martyrs were executed in 1886. Includes the basilica, the man‑made lake, and the Anglican shrine.
- Uganda Martyrs Basilica, Munyonyo – The site where the first trials and deaths occurred. A modern basilica with peaceful gardens.
- Kigungu Missionary Site – The landing point of the first Catholic missionaries on the shores of Lake Victoria.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PILGRIMS
- Opening hours: Most shrines are open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Liturgical celebrations may affect access – we will advise you.
- Dress code: Modest clothing is requested out of respect for these holy places. Avoid shorts, sleeveless tops, and short skirts.
- Photography: Permitted in most areas, but not inside the basilica during Mass. No flash or tripods without prior permission.
- Accessibility: The main shrines have paved paths suitable for wheelchairs and those with limited mobility. Please indicate any needs in the special requests field.
